Dr. William Lawson, MD, PhD, DLFAPA is Associate Dean for Health Disparities at the Dell Medical School and Director of Community Health Programs and Professor at Huston-Tillotson University, where he leads the Sandra Joy Anderson Community Health and Wellness Center.
Dr. Lawson is a pioneer of psychiatric consultation based on trauma, cultural context and co-occurring disorders. He has worked on behalf of renown academic institutions including Howard and leading academic institutions. Dr. Lawson has worked on reformative mental health and justice initiatives for the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration, Department of Justice and state and local jurisdictions across the country including the District of Columbia. In this role, Dr. Lawson lent his expertise to shape regulations and transformative mental health approaches to address the needs of many populations across the life span including veterans, those with disabilities and returning citizens.
